All of our high-quality timber comes from a responsibly managed site in France, where it’s cultivated to be tall, straight, and strong. This preserves structural integrity and maximises the amount of wood we can use in our work – thereby minimising waste.
When the wood reaches our site, it will be checked and graded for its suitability by our trained and qualified timber graders. Any pieces which don’t meet our standards for producing wooden garden buildings will be recycled.

Roof Options
We have an extensive range of roofing material options for you to choose from, in order to ensure your wooden garden building looks exactly as you want it to:
- Tile Roofing: Our tiles will come in Clay or Concrete materials, and come in Plain, Machine Made, Handmade, Interlocking, Peg, and Pantile designs.
- Slates: Our Slate types come in Natural and Manmade. The latter is generally less expensive than the former, but may not last as long or produce the same aesthetic.
- Stone: Natural stone slates will typically be laid in diminishing courses, with large slates at the bottom and the courses reducing in size as you move upward.
- Shingles/Shakes: Wood shakes and shingles are manufactured from western red cedar, cypress, pine, and redwood trees. Shakes are split from logs and then reshaped and are usually thicker at the butt end than shingles. Shingles, meanwhile, are sawn and have an even taper and uniform thickness.
Both shakes and shingles are available pressure-treated, but only western red cedar products are available with a fireproof pressurised treatment.
- Thatch: This traditional roof material option sees reeds or straw set down in a thick layer, in order to help water run off the roof. The higher the pitch of the roof, the longer the lifespan should be because water will not penetrate the thatch as much.
On average, a Water Reed thatch roof should last somewhere between 40 and 60 years, a Wheat Reed roof should last around 25 to 40 years, and a Long Straw thatch roof for about 20 to 35 years. A new ridge should be needed every 10 to 15 years. - Profiled Sheets: We offer many different types of profiled sheets, including Corrugated, Box Profile, GRP, Fibre Cement, and Tile Effect sheets.
- Metal: Our metal garden building roofs come in Lead, Copper, and Zinc varieties.
- Green: Also called a living roof, a biodiverse roof, or a Sedum roof, this is a roof which is designed to allow vegetative growth. There are three broad classifications of Green roofs, which are Extensive, Intensive, and Biodiverse.

But there are a number of stipulations to this, and there are guidelines that you will have to follow if you would like to ensure you can build yours without permission. We would always recommend checking with your local planning authority before you begin, especially if your design is on the large side and could run the risk of needing to be signed off.

How Much Will a Wooden Garden Building Cost?
The wooden garden buildings we provide will normally cost somewhere between £5,000 and £30,000, though the exact figure will depend on the size and the complexity of the structure. Every oak and timber frame design is made to the exact specifications of the purchaser, with price tags corresponding to the elements included. Altogether, this means that exact prices can only be calculated on an individual basis.

All of our wooden garden buildings are Q-Mark certified, meaning you will always be guaranteed a product that has been made to industry standard. We also uses processes that are regularly overseen by BM TRADA, one of the strictest and most highly-respected certification panels in the UK.
The traditional green oak and Douglas-fir timber we use in our construction is all sustainably grown and cultivated on a specially designated site in France. These are all grown to be as tall, strong, and straight as possible, and only the finest and strongest of these will ever be used in our work. For every one that is used, three more saplings will also be planted in its place.
